Israel Imposes Crushing Siege on Gaza Amid Deadly Hamas Attacks
Israel has slammed a full blockade on the Gaza Strip, choking off food, water, electricity, and fuel to its 2 million residents. The harsh move comes after a brutal Hamas attack on Saturday left at least 800 Israelis dead, sending tensions rocketing.
Hamas Denies Targeting Civilians, Blames “Occupation”
Dr Basem Naim, Hamas’s head of political and international relations, hit back in an exclusive chat with Sky News. He denied Hamas targeting civilians, claiming anyone “carrying guns” isn’t innocent. Naim slammed the “75 years of occupation and 17 years of siege” Gaza has suffered.
“Living in Gaza is like being in an open-air prison. People face the nightmare of dying from airstrikes or starvation,” Naim said.
Violence Surges as Hezbollah and Palestinian Militants Open New Fronts
- Reports claim Hezbollah fighters crossed into Israel from Lebanon, but the group denies involvement.
- Artillery and gunfire erupted along the southern Lebanon-Israel border, with seven Israeli soldiers wounded.
- Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) has taken credit for the border attack, joining forces with Hamas in Saturday’s deadly incursion.
- One Hezbollah member reportedly killed in Israeli counterstrikes.
Death Toll Mounts Amid Smokes and Strikes
Smokes curl above Gaza City as Israeli forces keep pounding Hamas targets. The siege blocks all aid flows, worsening the humanitarian disaster. Palestinian fatalities have soared to around 500 since the attack began, while Israeli casualties hit at least 800.
With violence spiralling on multiple fronts, the region faces a bleak and uncertain future as both sides dig in for a long and bitter conflict.
