Dagenham Drug Ringleader Slapped with 16½ Years for Class A Import Plot

Marius Bucys, 43, from Neasham Road, Dagenham, has been jailed for 16 years and 6 months after masterminding a major cocaine import operation. The Kingston Crown Court handed down the sentence on Friday, 15 December, capping a hard-hitting police crackdown on a ruthless crime gang.

Encrypted Phones & CCTV Spy Network

Met detectives cracked the case after uncovering Bucys’ use of high-tech encrypted devices to orchestrate shipments of Class A drugs from overseas. This clever tech was meant to keep their smuggling under the radar.

The gritty investigation began in 2020 when Bucys emerged as the ringleader, coordinating travel and logistics to funnel at least 127kg of cocaine into the UK, hitting London and beyond.

Thanks to a breakthrough via European partners hacking the Encrochat encrypted network, info was passed to the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Met. Officers painstakingly reviewed hours of CCTV showing lorry drivers making drug pickups around the M25.

A search of Bucys’ home also uncovered a notebook detailing the entire import operation – the smoking gun prosecutors needed.

Co-Conspirators Caught

Bucys wasn’t alone. Brothers Jonathan Lynn, 40, of Epsom, and Nicholas Lynn, 35, of Swanley, who worked closely with him at the peak of the network, pled guilty last month to conspiracy to import Class A drugs. They face sentencing on 25 January 2024.

The probe also nailed 12 Lithuanian lorry drivers tied to the smuggling ring, responsible for around 100kg of cocaine worth an estimated £8 million on the streets in 2020 alone.

Met Detective Praises Team’s Hard Work

“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team, this drugs network has been smashed and those responsible brought to justice. The evidence we gathered secured guilty pleas and hefty sentences,” said Met Detective Constable Leon Ure.

“This investigation highlights the incredible efforts of our skilled detectives to identify, arrest and convict organised criminals. Drugs wreck lives, and we’re committed to stopping them entering the UK illegally. It’s a win for Londoners that these vast quantities of Class A have been taken off the streets.”

Cracking Down on Crime in London

This victory is part of “A New Met for London” initiative, aiming to tackle crime head-on and keep capital communities safe. The Met’s proactive stance is sending a clear message to drug gangs: your days are numbered.
