TfL: Which London Underground Stations Have Phone Signals?

High-speed mobile coverage has expanded across some of London’s busiest Underground stations, marking a significant step forward in ensuring passengers stay connected while travelling on the Tube.

Transport for London (TfL) has been working to bring 4G and 5G mobile service to various Underground stations and plans to extend this coverage across the entire 73-mile Elizabeth line by the spring of 2024. The initiative aims to enhance the connectivity experience for commuters and visitors to the city.

Here is a list of the latest Underground stations where mobile coverage is now available:

Central Line:

Northern Line:

Jubilee Line:

Among these stations, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street are now equipped with 4G and 5G mobile service. TfL plans to roll out coverage to the Victoria and Piccadilly lines by the end of March.

The expansion of mobile coverage on the Underground is a collaborative effort involving major telecommunications providers, including Three UK, EE, Vodafone, and Virgin Media O2. These providers are participating in the rollout of mobile services on sections of the Jubilee, Northern, and Central lines.

The addition of mobile coverage in these stations not only benefits commuters but also plays a critical role in hosting the new Emergency Services Network (ESN). Once fully operational, the ESN will provide first responders with immediate access to life-saving data, images, and information in real-time situations and emergencies on the frontline.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing progress in delivering mobile connectivity across the transport network, stating, “The new mobile coverage at these stations will be a major boost for those travelling around London – connecting key business centres and some of the popular parts of Central London and the West End. It will help Londoners and visitors to the capital to better navigate the capital and stay connected underground. Growing numbers of underground Tube stations now have 4G and 5G services, with many more to come as we continue to build a better London for everyone.”

As TfL continues to expand mobile coverage throughout the Underground network, passengers can look forward to staying connected during their journeys, further enhancing the commuting experience in the city.
