Police Appeal for Information as Investigation Continues into Cheadle Deaths

Officers from Cheshire Police are seeking information from the public as they continue their investigation into the unexplained deaths of two women on New Year’s Eve in Cheadle, raising concerns within the local community.

On December 31, at approximately 3pm, police received reports of a woman’s body found and another woman injured at a residence on Park Lane. Despite the immediate response of paramedics and officers, both women, aged 63 and 91, tragically succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at around 3.50pm.

In connection with the incident, a 68-year-old man from Cheadle has been taken into custody on suspicion of two counts of murder.

The Major Investigation Department is leading the inquiry and is keeping an open mind as they explore all possible leads. A detailed forensic examination is underway at the scene to uncover any crucial evidence that may shed light on the case. Post-mortem examinations of the victims’ bodies are scheduled for January 2 to determine the cause of death.

As part of the investigation, officers are conducting thorough house-to-house enquiries in the vicinity. To ensure the community’s confidence and aid in evidence gathering, additional local officers will be present in the area.

To facilitate the flow of information, an online portal has been set up where individuals can provide tips and submit any CCTV, smart doorbell, or dashcam footage they may have. The Major Incident Public Portal can be accessed at https:///mipp.police.uk/operation/STAFFS23K21-PO1. Alternatively, those who wish to report anonymously can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or submit information online.
