Man Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Teen After Getting Her Drunk
Colin Shaw, 51, has been locked up for three years and four months after getting a 15-year-old girl drunk and then sexually assaulting her in his Rotherham home. The predator supplied the teenager with multiple cans of beer before carrying out the appalling attack.
Victim Traumatized and Pressured to Stay Silent
The young girl was left deeply traumatised by the ordeal. The very next morning, Shaw tried to silence her, urging her to downplay what happened. Even worse, he touched her inappropriately again. Detective Constable Charlotte Adamson, from the Major Crime Unit, called Shaw’s actions “sickening”. She said he exploited the teen by getting her intoxicated and then abusing her.
Justice Served at Sheffield Crown Court
Shaw, formerly from Worksop, was found guilty of one count of sexual assault at Sheffield Crown Court. He was cleared of a second charge but will now face serious consequences. He has been slapped with a life-long placement on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Police Urge Other Victims to Speak Out
“We will continue to go after individuals like Shaw who prey on vulnerable children,” said DC Adamson. “If you’ve been a victim of sexual assault, please come forward. You will be heard and supported. Together, we can ensure dangerous offenders are taken off the streets.”
