New Arrest in Leicester Murder Case Six Months On
Man Held Over Brutal Killing
Police have made a significant move in the shocking murder of 34-year-old Matthew Schofield, who died after a savage assault on Belgrave Road in Leicester at around 3am on June 11, 2023. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on December 27 but has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
16 Arrests, But No Closure Yet
So far, a total of 16 people have been arrested in connection with the case. Of these, 12 remain on police bail, one has been released under investigation, and three have been let off with no further action. Detectives are still piecing together what happened in those critical moments.
Family Plea for Justice
Matthew’s mother, Emma Daniels, issued a heartfelt plea for information back in December, begging for clues to bring peace to her family. Investigators remain under pressure to crack the case and deliver justice for the grieving relatives of Matthew Schofield.
The brutal attack left Matthew fatally injured, with officers only finding him nearly 90 minutes after the assault. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene, sparking an intense probe by Leicestershire Police. The investigation continues as the community rallies for answers.
