Tragic Loss of Teen on Bromley Railway Sparks Family Tribute

The family of 16-year-old Leo Barber, who tragically died on the railway near Shortlands Station, Bromley, have today paid a heartfelt tribute to the bright young lad.

Emergency Services Called at Dawn

At 4:50 am on 28 November 2023, officers rushed to the tracks following reports of a casualty. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Leo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Speak Out: “Leo Had the World at His Feet”

“Leo was an incredibly bright, sensitive, funny and loving boy with the world at his feet. He could have achieved anything he set his mind to,” the family said.

“He will be deeply missed as our son, big brother, nephew, grandson and friend.”

Mental Health Struggles and a Call for Change

Leo had been fighting mental health challenges for several months and was under medical care at the time.

The family expressed gratitude: “Thanks to all emergency services, especially the London Ambulance Service and British Transport Police.”

They also thanked friends, relatives and the community for their support. “Our hearts go out to all affected by this awful tragedy,” they added.

In their grief, Leo’s loved ones vowed to keep his memory alive by campaigning for better support for those affected by autism and mental health issues.
