ScotRail Warns of Network Shutdown Amidst Storm Isha & Jocelyn

As Scotland braces for the combined impact of Storm Isha and the impending Storm Jocelyn, ScotRail is advising travellers to check their last train departures due to a near-complete shutdown of the railway network at 7pm

In a statement, ScotRail emphasized, “Most services will be finished by 7 pm today – this means your last train of the day will likely be before then.” Commuters are urged to verify the departure times of their last trains and plan accordingly. Real-time updates on specific routes can be found on the ScotRail website.

The last few trains departing from Glasgow and Edinburgh are expected to leave before the 7pm deadline, and services to and from Scotland are not anticipated to resume until at least noon tomorrow.

The decision to shut down the railway network across the country comes in response to the ongoing impact of Storm Isha, with the situation likely to worsen as Storm Jocelyn intensifies this evening and into tomorrow morning.

ScotRail is not the only operator issuing warnings, as Avanti West Coast advises passengers against travelling north of Preston after 3.30pm today. The last scheduled service from London to Glasgow departed at 1.30pm, calling at Preston at 5.41pm. Passengers were cautioned that the service is “expected to be extremely busy.”
