Horror Crash on M27 Claims Lorry Driver’s Life
Hampshire Police are hunting witnesses after a deadly smash on the M27 westbound today. The horror collision took place just after 12:30pm at junction five, involving a Mercedes lorry, Nissan Juke, and Volkswagen Polo.
Lorry Driver Dies at Scene, Woman Injured
Tragically, the Mercedes lorry driver – a man in his 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. A woman in the Nissan Juke suffered minor injuries.
Chaos worsened when the lorry later caught fire, damaging a gantry and complicating the accident response.
Road Closure and Arrests Follow Crash
Hampshire officers remain at the scene. The M27 westbound between junctions nine and five is closed overnight to allow investigations to continue. Motorists are warned to expect delays.
Police have arrested three individuals – a 32-year-old man, a 37-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman – all of no fixed address. They are suspected of causing death by dangerous driving and are currently hospitalised.
