Massive California Wildfire Slows, Evacuation Order Downgraded

Corral Fire Rages Across 14,000 Acres

A ferocious wildfire, known as the Corral Fire, scorched over 14,000 acres in San Joaquin County, California. The blaze ignited near West Hollow Coral Road at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, initially burning 450 acres. Fueled by fierce 40 mph winds, it rapidly exploded, engulfing nearly 10,000 acres across Tracy and Alameda County within hours. By Sunday afternoon, the fire had consumed a staggering 14,168 acres.

Firefighters Battle Blaze Amid Injuries and Damage

Hundreds of firefighters are battling the relentless blaze to keep it from spreading further. As of 5 p.m. Sunday, two firefighters have been injured. The fire has destroyed at least one structure and caused widespread power outages. Despite these challenges, Cal Fire reports the wildfire is now about 50% contained.

“Strong winds and dry grass have made it difficult to contain,” Cal Fire warned.

Evacuation Downgraded but Vigilance Still Key

Originally, emergency officials ordered mandatory evacuations for residents west of the California Aqueduct and surrounding areas, including parts of Alameda and Stanislaus counties. However, by 5 p.m. Sunday, the evacuation order was downgraded to a warning. A temporary evacuation point has been set up at the Larch Clover Community Center in Tracy.

Authorities urge locals to stay alert and follow instructions closely. Evacuation warnings signal imminent danger, meaning residents must be ready to flee quickly if conditions worsen.

Firefighting Efforts Continue Around the Clock

Crews are expected to work through the day and night to control the fire. Officials remain on high alert due to continuing strong winds. The situation remains volatile as firefighters race against the clock to protect lives and property.
