We Are Survivors Launches “MANifesto” Ahead of UK Election

We Are Survivors, the UK’s top charity for male victims of sexual violence, has dropped a powerful “MANifesto.” The group is calling on political leaders to put male survivors front and centre in the next parliamentary term.

Charity Demands Political Action for Male Survivors

As the nation gears up for the July 4 General Election, We Are Survivors wants politicians to focus on the often overlooked struggles of male survivors of sexual abuse, rape, and violence.

Duncan Craig OBE, the charity’s founder and CEO, said: “As a charity leader, it’s our duty to hold those in power accountable. While voters will choose who gets their ‘X’, we must ensure political parties understand and act on our cause.”

Duncan, himself a survivor, stressed the need for ongoing political dialogue. “Together, we can fight sexual violence and make sure no male survivor is left behind. Tough conversations are needed to end this epidemic.”

New Initiatives to Boost Male Survivor Support

We Are Survivors has rolled out three fresh projects to raise awareness and offer support:

  1. Beyond The Silence: A quarterly mag featuring exclusive interviews, including with Richard Gadd, creator of “Baby Reindeer.”
  2. On It: A collaboration with North West HIV charity George House Trust tackling ChemSex and drug-facilitated abuse.
  3. We’re Allies: Partnering with Mandem Meetup to build an army of allies supporting male survivors.

Looking Ahead

The charity will celebrate 16 years of fighting for male survivors in February 2025, marking nearly two decades of dedication and hope for change.
