War Memorial Vandalised and Targeted by Fire in Keedwell Hill

Police have launched an investigation after a war memorial in Keedwell Hill was vandalised and an attempt made to set it on fire. The damage was discovered just after 11am on June 5.

Incident Occurred Overnight Between June 4 and 5

The attack is believed to have happened between 8pm on Tuesday, June 4 and 8am on Wednesday, June 5. Officers found evidence of damage caused by a flagpole used to strike the memorial before an arson attempt.

“We fully appreciate the significance of this memorial, and we are committed to conducting a thorough inquiry,” PC James Coglan, who is leading the investigation, said. He also stressed the sensitivity of the timing around the incident.

Authorities Urge Witnesses to Step Forward

Efforts to identify the culprits are ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or those with relevant details are asked to call 101 and quote reference number 5224144301.
