In a tense Euro 2024 match between Hungary and Scotland, Hungarian forward Barnabas Varga suffered a serious injury. The incident occurred in the second half after an apparent clash with Scotland’s goalkeeper, Angus Gunn, following a free kick. Varga was stretchered off the pitch, prompting concern from both teams and fans.
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, the Hungarian captain, was visibly emotional as medical staff attended to his teammate. The Hungary team formed a protective shield around Varga during the treatment, and TV cameras discreetly panned away.
After several minutes of medical attention, Varga was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, the Hungarian Football Federation has confirmed that his condition is stable.
