Curtis Arnold Arrested During Far-Right Protests at Downing Street

Curtis Arnold, famed for filming Nicola Bulley’s recovery, was arrested tonight outside Downing Street amid escalating far-right protests rocking Central London. The unrest follows violent riots earlier this week in Southport.

Chaos in the Capital: Flares, Bottles, and Chants

Social media posts show protesters lighting flares in the street and pelting police officers with glass bottles. Demonstrators loudly chant “save our kids” while waving St George flags, heightening tensions in the heart of the city.

What Sparked the Protests?

The fury ignited after the shocking murder of three young girls in Merseyside, along with attacks on several others. A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested connected to the crimes. However, chaos was fuelled by false online rumours falsely claiming the suspect was a refugee. Police have since confirmed the teenager was born in Cardiff.

Violence first erupted near a Southport mosque on Tuesday, driven by these baseless rumours. Police reported 53 officers and three police dogs were injured in the disorder, with four arrests made so far.

London March Led by Laurence Fox

Tonight’s protest in London, promoted by former actor turned activist Laurence Fox, has been restricted by the Metropolitan Police to 7 PM – 8:30 PM.

Superintendent Neil Holyoak, in charge of policing, stated:

“The public’s strong feelings about the tragic Southport events are understandable, but the violent, unlawful disorder that followed was completely unacceptable and fueled by misinformation.”

He added:

“Everyone has the right to protest, but we must balance that with the public’s right to go about their lives safely. That’s why we’ve set conditions and deployed extra officers across London.”

Police Crackdown and Community Calls for Calm

Superintendent Holyoak revealed they are in talks with protest organisers along with local community groups, businesses, and religious leaders, especially within the Muslim community impacted by recent unrest in Southport. He urged:

“Protest calmly and within the law. Any breach will be dealt with swiftly.”

Police presence has been ramped up significantly to prevent further violence. Officers, including armed units, stand ready to act against any disorder.

Public Outcry for Unity Over Misinformation

The violent outbursts have sparked widespread condemnation from community leaders and the public alike. Many call for calm and unity amidst the chaos stoked by false rumours and misinformation.
