Labour Councillor Arrested Over Shocking Call to ‘Cut Far-Right Throats’

A Dartford Labour councillor in his 50s has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police for “encouraging murder” after he allegedly urged demonstrators to “cut the throats” of far-right protesters during a fiery rally in Walthamstow on August 7.

Ricky Jones Suspended by Labour

Ricky Jones, who represents a ward on Dartford Borough Council in Kent, has been suspended by the Labour Party. He is barred from sitting on party benches at council meetings while investigations are ongoing.

The arrest followed after the Met Police shared a video clip on X (formerly Twitter), capturing Jones’ incendiary words: “They are disgusting Nazi fascists, and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.” His remarks targeted far-right protesters linked to violent riots, including an attack on a mosque in Southport and hotel raids targeting asylum seekers.

Peaceful Protesters Clash with Fury

Counter-protesters at the Walthamstow demonstration held placards declaring: “Smash fascism and racism by any means necessary.” They stood united against the surge in far-right violence sweeping the nation.

After the video surfaced, a Labour Party spokesperson said:

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated.”

Met Police Crack Down Amid National Far-Right Violence Surge

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest, stating:

“Officers have arrested a man in his 50s at a south-east London address on suspicion of encouraging murder and an offence under the Public Order Act. He remains in custody.”

The Walthamstow event was part of wider action against a wave of far-right disorder, which has sparked over 480 arrests nationwide, according to the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

Speaking on the anti-racism demo, Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said:

“It went off very peacefully last night – though a few local criminals tried to stir trouble and we arrested some of them.”

This arrest and Jones’ suspension send a strong warning: dangerous rhetoric amid rising tensions will not be tolerated. More investigations are expected as police clamp down on hate-fuelled unrest.
