Top Chef Mussie Imnetu Dies After Brutal Notting Hill Attack
A beloved chef, Mussie Imnetu, 41, tragically died after a savage assault near Notting Hill Carnival. Mussie, who had worked with culinary giants Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, was found unconscious with severe head injuries outside Dr Power restaurant in Queensway on August 26.
From Mayfair to Mayhem: The Fatal Night
Mussie, visiting London from Dubai, left The Arts Club in Mayfair’s Dover Street earlier that day. Around 11:22 pm, he was attacked outside Dr Power restaurant. Customers rushed to help and police arrived swiftly, administering first aid. Sadly, Mussie died in a west London hospital four days later, on August 30.
Family Devastated, Police Crack Down
Friends and family across London, Dubai, Sweden, and Eritrea are left heartbroken. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s murder squad called the family’s grief “inconsolable” and confirmed specialist officers are supporting them through this dark time.
Arrest Made, Investigation Ongoing
- Omar Wilson, 31, from Leytonstone, has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
- Wilson appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 30 and is remanded in custody.
- He is due at Southwark Crown Court on September 27. Charges may be updated following Mussie’s death.
Police Urge Witnesses to Step Forward
The Met is desperate for anyone who saw Mussie between 1 pm, when he left The Arts Club, and 10:30 pm, when he reached Dr Power restaurant, to come forward. Detective Howie stressed the need to piece together Mussie’s movements during those hours and called for any images, videos, or eyewitness accounts.
Community Action and Police Appeal
Officers will be handing out appeal leaflets and engaging with local residents near Dr Power on September 2, from 9 pm, marking one week since the attack. They especially want to hear from anyone who was at the restaurant between 10 pm and 11:30 pm on the night of the assault.
