Truck Smashes Car on A2: Road Closed, Long Delays
A nasty crash on the A2 in Kent has brought traffic to a standstill. A lorry smashed into a car earlier today, flipping it onto its roof. The eastbound carriageway is shut between the M25/A282 near Darenth and the B255 near Bean.
Emergency Teams Battle to Clear Scene
Kent Fire & Rescue, National Highways, ambulance crews, and police are all on site. The upside-down car is making recovery tricky. Drivers face at least an hour’s delay.
Police warn: “Delays expected while emergency services work to clear the scene. Please avoid the area.”
How to Avoid the Chaos: Follow These Diversions
Come at the crash site, take the diversion marked by a solid circle on signs. Here’s the route to dodge the jam:
- Exit A2 eastbound at Darenth Interchange to join A282 northbound towards Dartford.
- Leave A282 at Junction 1A.
- At first roundabout, take 3rd exit onto A206 eastbound, then at second roundabout, follow the “fast slip” to Bluewater.
- Stay on A206 for 2 miles until you reach the B255 junction.
- Take 2nd exit at roundabout onto B255 southbound towards Bean.
- Exit B255 at junction with A296.
- At next roundabout, keep left onto A296 eastbound towards Dover and rejoin A2 eastbound.
Plan Ahead or Delay Your Journey
Traffic chiefs urge motorists to plan ahead, avoid the area if possible, or delay travel. The crash is causing heavy tailbacks that’ll last until the scene is cleared.
Stay tuned for updates and check live traffic before setting off. Avoid the A2 eastbound between Darenth and Bean for now—or face a long sit in traffic.
