HGV and Car Crash Sparks Horror Outside HMP Thameside
A serious smash involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a car shook Thamesmead on Tuesday afternoon. The collision happened just after 4.30pm on Griffin Manor Way, right outside HMP Thameside.
Pregnant Woman Trapped as Emergency Services Rush In
Emergency crews were called to the scene after reports that two people, including a pregnant woman who was unconscious, were trapped in the wreckage. London Air Ambulance doctors landed quickly, while London Fire Brigade teams used specialist cutting gear to free the victims.
The crash forced road closures around the Griffin Manor Way junction to help emergency responders do their job.
Victims’ Conditions Still Unknown but Stable
The condition of those involved has not been fully confirmed yet, but authorities say their safety is being prioritised. The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service are on the case, with more information expected soon.
Locals and drivers have been warned to steer clear of the area while emergency teams work.
UPDATE: Woman Hospitalised with Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
Police revealed the crash occurred on Western Way at 4.22pm today. A woman involved was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing. No arrests have been made so far.
Traffic was affected with partial roadblocks and a detour introduced for bus route 244. Normal conditions have since resumed.
