Traffic on the M25 came to a standstill this afternoon (October 12) following reports of a pedestrian walking along the busy motorway near north London.
National Highways confirmed that traffic was blocked in the clockwise direction between junctions 24 and 23 shortly before 3pm, as police responded to concerns about a pedestrian on the road.
In response, traffic was also held in both directions between junctions 22 and 23, causing significant delays.
The situation was resolved approximately 30 minutes later, with National Highways reporting that the pedestrian had been “secured” and traffic was allowed to resume.
Images from traffic cameras showed a vehicle blocking the slip road onto the M25 at junction 22, with a large portion of the motorway remaining clear up to junction 23.
Hertfordshire Police have been contacted for further details regarding the incident.
