M25 chaos after pedestrian spotted on motorway near North London
Traffic gridlock hits clockwise M25
Traffic on the M25 came to a grinding halt this afternoon (October 12) after a pedestrian was spotted walking along the busy motorway near north London. National Highways confirmed that clockwise traffic between junctions 24 and 23 was blocked just before 3pm as police scrambled to deal with the unexpected hazard.
Delays pile up as police respond
The chaos didn’t stop there. Authorities held traffic in both directions between junctions 22 and 23, causing major tailbacks and frustrated motorists faced long delays. Cameras showed a vehicle blocking the slip road at junction 22, while much of the motorway remained clear up to junction 23.
Pedestrian secured, traffic flows again
Thankfully, the situation was sorted within 30 minutes. National Highways reported the pedestrian had been “secured” and traffic was allowed to resume. Hertfordshire Police have been contacted for more details on the incident.
The M25 madness highlights the havoc a single pedestrian can cause on one of Britain’s busiest roads.
