Devon and Cornwall Police revealed the driver was initially trapped but escaped unaided and walked away unharmed. Officers swiftly shut the road for safety as crews removed the fallen tree and cleared the slick fuel from the tarmac. They warned the closure could last “for some time.”

Traffic monitors reported long delays with vehicles rerouted around the crash site. Thankfully, by 7:15pm, the A395 reopened fully once debris and fuel were cleaned away, letting traffic flow resume as normal.
