A man has tragically died, and two others are injured following a shooting incident on Wells Park Road, Sydenham, on Sunday morning. Emergency services were alerted to the scene at approximately 10:10 a.m. on 10 November.
London Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service crews responded to reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are currently working to confirm his identity and inform his family. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled.
A woman was also injured in the shooting, sustaining gunshot wounds to her legs. She was taken to the hospital, where her condition was assessed as non-life-threatening. Shortly after, a third individual presented themselves at the hospital with suspected gunshot injuries. Their condition remains unknown.
Commander Peter Stevens addressed the community, expressing the gravity of the incident: “I know people will be shocked by this senseless act of violence, all the more so on a Sunday morning in a residential area. I share their concerns and can assure the local community that the Met’s response, alongside our partners, has been rapid.”

Commander Stevens added that additional officers, including forensic experts, will be deployed to the area to carry out investigations. Police cordons will likely remain in place as officers work to gather evidence and ensure the safety of residents. Officers will also be patrolling the area to reassure the public and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Several residents have already reached out to the police with information, and authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV, phone, or doorbell footage to assist in the investigation.
