A 39-year-old man has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with attempted murder following a violent incident on a Brixton bus that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old passenger.
Nathan Grant, from Lambeth Walk, Brixton, was originally charged with attempted murder and theft on Friday, 22 November, after an altercation on a route 59 bus along Brixton Road.
The victim, identified as Donovan Martin, was taken to hospital following the incident on Thursday, 21 November, at approximately 10:20. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, 25 November, at around 2:30 pm.
Grant was initially remanded in custody after appearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 23 November. He returned to court today, Friday, 6 December, at the Old Bailey. Prosecutors confirmed that the charges will be amended to murder at a future hearing, with the date yet to be determined.
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is continuing its investigation and is appealing to the public for assistance.
