Blackpool Man Sentenced in Historical Child Sexual Abuse Case

A child sexual abuse case reached its conclusion as Jordan Blenkinship, 31, of Livingstone Road, Blackpool, received a six-year prison sentence and lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Friday, December 20, 2024. The conviction stems from multiple sexual offences committed against a young child between 2009 and 2011.

Case Background and Investigation

The sexual abuse began in 2009 when the victim was just four years old and Blenkinship was 17. The crimes first came to authorities’ attention in 2010 following a disclosure from someone close to the victim. Though initially arrested in March 2010, Blenkinship denied all allegations during police questioning.

Victim’s Courage Leads to Justice

In a powerful turn of events, the victim came forward in 2019 to support a police investigation, demonstrating remarkable bravery in sharing her story. Her testimony proved crucial in building a strong case against her abuser.

Legal Proceedings and Verdict

Following a week-long trial at Manchester Crown Court, the jury found Blenkinship guilty of:

  • Multiple counts of sexual assault
  • Sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13

Police Response

Detective Constable Callum Shackleton of GMP’s Major Incident Team praised the victim’s courage, stating that while the sentencing marks only the beginning of her healing journey, it ensures Blenkinship can no longer pose a threat to children.
