Teen Stabbed in Chatham After Refusing to Hand Over Phone
A 14-year-old boy was viciously attacked in broad daylight in Chatham. The teenager was walking along a footpath known locally as ‘The Trails’ off Albany Road at around 11.30am on Friday 13 August when a man suddenly accosted him.
The suspect demanded the boy’s phone and wallet. When the victim refused, the man pulled a knife and plunged it into the teenager’s stomach four times before fleeing the scene.
Victim Treated and Released
Emergency services were called immediately. The injured boy was rushed to a local hospital, treated for his wounds, and has since been discharged. Thankfully, he is expected to recover fully.
Suspect Description & Appeal for Witnesses
- White male, aged 40-45
- About 5ft 10in tall, slim build
- Dark curly hair, brown eyes, and a beard
- Unkempt appearance, wearing dirty dark clothing
Police believe the attacker was a stranger to the victim. They are urgently appealing for anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area to come forward.
