Four-car smash on A2 near Pepper Hill leaves two injured

Crash chaos near Gravesend

A nasty four-car collision snarled the A2 coastbound near Pepper Hill just before midday today. The eastbound carriageway was shut for hours, causing major delays before reopening.

The pile-up happened between the A2260 Southfleet Road and the A227 Wrotham Road, with emergency crews rushing to the scene — police, paramedics, and firefighters all in attendance.

Two hurt but injuries not serious

A police spokesperson said:

“Two people were treated for injuries and have been taken to a local hospital for further medical attention. The injuries are not described as life-threatening.”

All lorries and cars involved have been cleared away.

Oil spill adds to delays

The closure came after crews had to clean up an oil spillage that made the road slippery and dangerous. Police urged motorists to find alternate routes during the rush-hour chaos.

A2 now back open

The A2 near Gravesend is fully reopened with traffic slowly returning to normal. Drivers are cautioned to take care as the road might still be slick in places.
