Arrest Made Following Stolen Car Chase Through Shooters Hill

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Shooters Hill, which caused significant disruption on Sunday, December 29.

The incident began at 11:15 AM, when officers were alerted to a stolen car. Police attempted to stop the vehicle near Shooters Hill Road, SE18, but the driver failed to comply, leading to a chase.

Road Closures and Disruption

The pursuit resulted in the closure of the A207 Shooters Hill Road in both directions between the Sun in the Sands roundabout (A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach) and Old Dover Road (B211).

The closure caused heavy traffic congestion, and bus routes 89, 178, and 386 were diverted. Drivers were advised to use alternative routes while police dealt with the situation.

The chase ended with the arrest of the suspect, who was detained on suspicion of traffic offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
