A 23-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting the suicide of another woman, also 23, whose body was discovered at Beachy Head, East Sussex.
Emergency services were alerted to concerns for a woman’s safety at around 17:20 GMT on New Year’s Eve. Tragically, the body of the victim, from Essex, was later found near the cliffs. Sussex Police confirmed that they are not treating the death as suspicious. The victim’s next of kin have been informed.
The arrested woman, also from Essex, was questioned on suspicion of intentionally performing an act capable of encouraging or assisting the suicide of another person. She has been bailed pending further investigation, police said.
