A 43-year-old man has been charged following a vicious attack that left an 82-year-old man critically injured in Soho Road, Handsworth. The violent assault occurred around 3:30pm on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

Muntahar Ahmed, who has no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the incident. He now faces a charge of wounding and has been remanded in custody ahead of his court appearance at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 18 January.

The elderly victim remains in a critical condition in hospital, sparking outrage and concern throughout the local community.
