A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after officers from the Metropolitan Police and UK Border Force intercepted a car carrying 18 illegal loaded guns and more than 230 rounds of ammunition hidden in its front bumper.
The Arrest
Footage of the arrest shows Tugwell being apprehended on the spot as officers uncovered the weapons and ammunition. The loaded firearms, intended for distribution, posed a serious threat to public safety.
Police Statement
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“This interception demonstrates the strength of our partnership with Border Force in preventing dangerous weapons from reaching the streets. Tugwell’s actions could have had devastating consequences, but thanks to the dedication of our officers, these firearms will never see the light of day.”
The Sentence
Tugwell, who pleaded guilty to firearms smuggling, was sentenced to 12 years in prison at a London court.
