Teen Busted After Stolen Moped Nixed in Herne Bay

An 18-year-old lad from Canterbury is in hot water after cops nabbed him riding a dodgy moped in Herne Bay early Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025.

Faulty Lights and Fakery Spark Police Stop

Officers on patrol in Bullockstone Road spotted the bike’s busted rear lights and a mangled numberplate. When they pulled the rider over, he had no key and couldn’t explain where the moped came from.

Cannabis and Stolen Plates Found at the Scene

A quick search turned up some cannabis, while checks revealed the moped’s numberplate had been nicked from another vehicle.

Multiple Charges Land Teen in Custody

  • Taking a vehicle without consent
  • Theft
  • Driving offences
  • Possession of drugs

The Canterbury man was arrested on these suspicions, taken into custody, and later bailed while investigations roll on.

Police praised the officers’ quick action and confirmed the hunt for more evidence is ongoing. The case remains firmly under investigation.
