NHS Nurse, 40, Dies After Being Hit by Car in Harold Hill

Tragic Crash on Briar Road

Victoria Thorpe, a 40-year-old NHS ward manager, was struck by a car on Briar Road, Harold Hill, at 7:30pm on February 13.

She sadly died the next day—Valentine’s Day—at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

Details Emerge at East London Inquest

The tragic death was formally opened for inquest at East London Coroner’s Court, Walthamstow, on February 27.

A post-mortem on February 21 revealed Ms Thorpe died from multiple injuries sustained in the collision.

Coroner’s officer Jean Smyth confirmed Victoria was a ward manager nurse, though her exact workplace remains undisclosed.

Police Probe Underway

The Metropolitan Police launched an immediate investigation into the crash, which is still ongoing.

Coroner Nadia Persaud said, “As there is an active police investigation ongoing, I’m going to give priority to the police investigation.”

Driver Charged with Death by Dangerous Driving

Richard Sharpe, 42, of Kidman Close, Gidea Park, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The case is ongoing as police collect further evidence.
