A tragic incident unfolded in the city centre of Mannheim earlier today after a car drove into a group of pedestrians, leaving one person dead and several others seriously injured.

Police and emergency responders rushed to Paradeplatz in downtown Mannheim at approximately 12:15 PM local time after receiving distress calls.

A German police spokesperson confirmed that multiple casualties were reported, with witnesses describing people lying on the ground and two individuals being resuscitated by first responders.
