Van Goes Up in Flames on A356 Near Maiden Newton

A van burst into flames on the A356 near Maiden Newton this afternoon, sparking an urgent emergency response.

Firefighters Race to Scene

Around 3.45pm on Friday 14 March 2025, crews from Dorchester Fire Station were scrambled after reports of a blazing vehicle at the roadside.

Firefighters arrived quickly to find the van well alight. Using hose reel jets, they battled the flames and managed to bring the fire under control.

No Injuries but Traffic Chaos

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the blaze. However, the eruption caused traffic disruption as emergency services worked to clear the scene.

Drivers were warned to proceed with caution while recovery and safety checks were carried out.
