Birmingham man locked up for 12 years following brutal early-morning raid in Rugby that left homeowner battered and bruised.
Knife-Wielding Burglar’s Violent Home Invasion
Amandeep Kang, 30, from Wattville Road, Birmingham, was sentenced to 12 years for aggravated burglary and 8 years for wounding with intent, to run concurrently.
The violent offence unfolded in the wee hours of July 30, 2024, when Kang broke into a Chestnut Road home in Rugby armed with a knife. He demanded gold, battered the occupant, and forced him to open a safe.
The victim suffered multiple injuries to his face, hands, and knees, requiring hospital treatment.
Family Feud Sparks Bloody Break-In
Police revealed the shocking attack stemmed from a family dispute. Despite this, officers stressed there’s no excuse for Kang’s brutal behaviour.
Detective Praises Victim’s Grit
“This was a terrifying experience for the victim, who was repeatedly threatened and subjected to a sustained assault by Kang,” said Detective Constable Jamie Russell, who led the investigation.
“The motive appeared to stem from a family dispute, but this does not excuse the violence. I hope this sentence brings closure to the victim while ensuring Kang faces justice.”
Justice Served with Tough Sentence
Kang now faces years behind bars for a ruthless crime that shocked the Rugby community. Police praised the victim’s courage in helping bring Kang to justice.
The court made it clear: violent home invasions will not be tolerated.
