Thameslink and Southeastern Delays After Person Dies Near Erith Station

Train services across Southeastern and Thameslink routes have been severely disrupted after a person died on the tracks near Erith station this morning.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that officers were called to the railway line shortly after 8.15am, following reports of a casualty near Erith station, located between Bexley and Dartford in south-east London.

Despite the rapid response of emergency services, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Major Rail Disruption Across Southeastern and Thameslink

The incident has caused widespread disruption, particularly on the Woolwich line, with Southeastern trains between Dartford and London Cannon Street and Thameslink services between Rainham (Kent) and Luton via West Hampstead Thameslink experiencing significant delays and cancellations.

National Rail has warned that disruption is expected to continue until at least 1pm, though delays may extend further depending on the progress of recovery and investigations.

Thameslink issued a statement saying there is currently no estimate for when services between Dartford and London Bridge will resume.
