Death on the Tracks Sparks Chaos on Southeastern and Thameslink Lines

Train services took a massive hit this morning after a person died on the tracks near Erith station. British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene just after 8.15am following reports of a casualty between Bexley and dartford/" title="Dartford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Dartford in south-east London.

Emergency services rushed to the railway line, but sadly, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is now underway to uncover what happened.

Major Rail Havoc Across Southeastern and Thameslink

The tragedy has sparked widespread disruption, especially on the Woolwich line. Southeastern trains running between Dartford and London Cannon Street face severe delays and cancellations. Thameslink services between Rainham (Kent) and Luton, going via West Hampstead Thameslink, have also been hit hard.

National Rail warns the chaos will continue until at least 1pm, with delays likely to stretch further depending on recovery efforts and investigations. Thameslink admitted there’s currently no estimate on when trains between Dartford and London Bridge will run normally again.

“We were called to an area of the line close to Erith station at around 8.15am today (Monday, March 24) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to their death.”
