Massive Police Operation on Chestnut Estate, N17 Leads to Drug Seizure

A significant police presence descended on the Chestnut Estate in Tottenham (N17) on Tuesday, 23 April, in an operation that led to the discovery of drugs and one person being detained.

According to eyewitnesses, multiple officers from the Metropolitan Police, along with a sniffer dog unit, were deployed to the estate, focusing on a single individual. The scale of the operation raised eyebrows among residents, many of whom captured photos and videos of the scene.

A  source for the Met Police confirmed that the operation was intelligence-led and resulted in the recovery of illegal drugs. It is not yet clear what quantities or types of substances were seized, but investigations are ongoing.

“Officers conducted a targeted search at a property on the Chestnut Estate on 23 April. Drugs were located, and one person is assisting police with their enquiries,” the spokesperson said.

The use of a sniffer dog suggests authorities were searching for controlled substances both inside the property and in surrounding communal areas. The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Residents on the estate expressed mixed feelings, with some praising the police for tackling crime, while others questioned the size of the response.

One local resident said:

“It looked like something out of a film — all that for one person. But if they found drugs, at least it’s off our streets.”

Police have urged anyone with further information to contact them via 101, quoting the reference for the operation, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
