Gunman Caught and Sentenced Within 72 Hours of Near-Fatal Shooting
A rapid police investigation nabbed Shea Williams, 31, of Cedar Road, NW2, just three days after a brutal shooting left a man fighting for his life. Williams appeared at Isleworth Crown Court and was slammed with a hefty 31-year jail term for attempted murder after being found guilty back in April.
Multiple Charges Land Williams Behind Bars
Williams didn’t just get time for the shooting. He also got 13 years for carrying a loaded firearm with intent to endanger life, 39 months for ammunition possession, and 45 months for two counts of intent to supply class A drugs. All sentences will run at the same time, keeping Williams locked up for decades.
Detective Slams Williams as ‘One of London’s Most Dangerous’
“This man showed no remorse and refused to admit guilt,” said Detective Constable Jonny Wise. “Williams brought a loaded gun to a party, chased down an unarmed man, and fired multiple shots. Then, he shot the victim again up close, clearly trying to kill him.”
Miraculously, the victim survived the attack, credited to sheer luck, but suffered seven gunshot wounds and life-changing injuries after emergency surgery.
How Police Cracked the Case in Record Time
The shooting happened at around 7.30am on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Williams and two others chased a 30-year-old man from a Halloween silent disco in Hillfield Avenue, Wembley. Williams pulled a self-loading handgun and unleashed a barrage of bullets as the victim fled.
Though a doorbell camera caught part of the attack, the footage was too blurry to ID suspects. But a breakthrough came when a traffic warden’s bodycam recorded the number plate of Williams’ car while issuing a parking ticket nearby just before the shooting.
- Police traced the vehicle to Williams.
- He was arrested and charged within 72 hours.
- Further probes included phone checks, GPS, ANPR data, and a car search.
- Officers found a hidden drug stash and gunshot residue in the vehicle.
Despite two other men facing attempted murder charges, both were acquitted at trial.
Unsolved Motive, But Police Push on Against Violence
The reason behind the shooting is still a mystery. But the case highlights police’s determination to tackle serious crime and keep dangerous weapons off London’s streets.
