Major disruption has hit motorists on the M20 London-bound carriageway this afternoon following an overturned vehicle between Junction 8 (A20 Ashford Road for Leeds Castle/Maidstone Services) and Junction 7 (A249 Maidstone/Detling Hill).
Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident that happened just after 9pm on Tuesday evening 20th May 2025, which resulted in the temporary full closure of the westbound stretch. The road has since reopened, but two lanes remain closed to allow recovery crews to safely remove the vehicle and clear debris.
Traffic is still heavily congested, with long delays expected as recovery operations continue into the evening.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible or allow additional travel time.
