Man stabbed and racially abused in terrifying late-night attack in Swindon
Masked moped gang launch brutal assault
Police have launched an urgent probe after a man in his 40s was viciously stabbed and racially abused in Swindon’s May Close on Tuesday night (3 June 2025).
The victim was ambushed by three men on mopeds between 11:25pm and 11:50pm. The gang demanded his belongings, but when he tried to run, they called him racist slurs, chased him to his front door, and attacked him with a knife.
He suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds, was rushed to hospital, treated, and has since been discharged. Shocking footage or eyewitness accounts could hold vital clues.
Suspects flee empty-handed
Despite the violent attack, the thugs fled without stealing anything. Police describe them as:
- White males
- Wearing all black clothing
- Concealing their faces with balaclavas
- Riding mopeds
Swindon CID are on the case after a temporary police cordon at the scene helped gather evidence. The cordon has now been lifted.
Police issue urgent appeal for witnesses
Detective Sergeant Craig Rathbone, Swindon CID, said: “We understand the community concern this will cause, and we are treating it extremely seriously. There is no place for this kind of violence in Swindon. Our enquiries to find those responsible are ongoing.”
“Expect to see increased police patrols in the area. If you witnessed anything, please speak to our officers. If we haven’t contacted you yet, please come forward.”
