Tragic Scene at Knoll Rise
Emergency services rushed to Knoll Rise, Orpington at 9.30am on Sunday after reports of an unconscious man in his 60s. Despite frantic efforts from Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway
“At 09:30hrs on Sunday, 08 June, police were called to Knoll Rise, Orpington. On arrival, they found a man in his 60s unconscious and despite efforts from officers and paramedics from the Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead. His death is being treated as unexpected, and a file will be prepared for the coroner,” a Met Police spokesperson confirmed.
The cause of death is currently unknown. Police say there are no immediate signs of foul play, but inquiries remain ongoing. A post-mortem and coroner’s inquest will follow in the coming days.
Busy Orpington Scene Briefly Cordoned Off
The incident happened near Central Court and Orpington High Street, a normally bustling area filled with foot traffic and local shops. A police cordon was quickly put in place but lifted once emergency teams completed their work. Local residents were later permitted to return safely.
Public Reassurance
Met Police have reassured the public there is no wider threat linked to the man’s sudden death. Officers remained on site for further enquiries before standing down. The investigation continues as the community awaits answers.
