Migrants at Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf Waste No Time in Ordering Takeaways and Hosting Visitors, Sparking Local Safety Concerns
Newly-arrived migrants accommodated at the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf have wasted no time in making themselves at home, with a flurry of takeaway orders, late-night deliveries, and incidents that have raised local concerns about safety and conduct within the area.

Several busloads of asylum seekers were moved into the hotel on Friday evening, and by early Saturday, delivery drivers from Just Eat, Deliveroo, and other platforms were seen coming and going at all hours, delivering kebabs and other local cuisines directly to rooms.
Witnesses described a continuous stream of food couriers entering the premises, with some migrants also allegedly receiving illicit substances.

At around 1am on Saturday, tensions flared when a group of Afghan men reportedly clashed with hotel staff after being refused entry into the building. Eyewitnesses say the group, unable to gain access, passed a “large black cling-wrapped package” through a hotel window to an associate inside.

Meanwhile, other residents of the hotel were seen fraternising with local women. One migrant, described as wearing a “bling chain,” was spotted arm-in-arm with a young woman as they strolled along the riverside. Later, the same individual attempted to escort the woman back to his hotel room, but she was denied entry by security. The man eventually arranged an Uber to send her home.

Security staff on-site appeared visibly frustrated by the behaviour of some of the new arrivals. “He brought it on himself,” remarked one security officer in reference to the migrant who tried to bring a female guest into the hotel.

Local residents have expressed growing alarm at the situation, citing concerns for the safety of women and young girls in the area. A large protest is being planned outside the Britannia Hotel in the coming days, with campaigners demanding assurances over community safety and hotel management protocols.
One incident of note involved a young girl with curly hair, who was seen walking along the river with a migrant from the hotel. Despite his attempts to gain her entry into the premises, she was firmly turned away by staff, prompting him to arrange her transport home via Uber.
