Inquest Opens as Family Sought
On Wednesday, August 20, an inquest was opened at East London Coroner’s Court. Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine said:
“The cause of death is clearly an unnatural cause of death and accordingly I have to open an inquest.”
Mr McCubbin, who lived nearby on Gift Lane, had reportedly become estranged from his family. Efforts are underway to contact his relatives, who will be granted ‘interested person’ status to scrutinise evidence and question witnesses.
CCTV from the busy Stratford street – filled with shops and businesses – is expected to be key to the investigation. A full inquest will be held at a later date.
