Mother Charged with Brutal Murder of Her Three Young Children in Bristol
A 43-year-old woman, Yasmeen Ali, has been charged with the horrific stabbing deaths of her three children at their Sea Mills home in Bristol. The victims were seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash, and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash. Their bodies were found in February 2024 at the family residence on Blaise Walk.
Post-mortem reports confirmed all three children died from fatal knife wounds, shaking the quiet Bristol suburb to its core.
Police Confirm Charges Amid Mental Health Concerns
Avon and Somerset Police said Yasmeen Ali, currently receiving mental health care, will appear in court at a later date. The investigation was described as “extremely complex and highly sensitive”.
Chief Inspector Keith Smith said: “This incident has deeply affected the children’s loved ones and the wider Sea Mills community, which has shown incredible resilience and kindness.”
He urged the public to avoid speculation and respect the family’s privacy during this painful time.
Crown Prosecution Service to Take Case to Trial
Andrew Pritchard from the Crown Prosecution Service announced:
“We have decided to prosecute Yasmeen Ali for three counts of murder following a thorough investigation. There is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial, and it is in the public interest to do so.”
He warned against media speculation to protect the integrity of the upcoming trial.
Community Mourns Together as Family Grieves
The children’s father, Alfil Bash, emotionally described eldest son Fares as a “genius boy” who loved football, singing, and maths during the inquest opening. In February, hundreds gathered for a vigil to remember the three siblings.
Following the tragedy, Avon and Somerset Police referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over prior contact with the family. The watchdog decided no further investigation was needed.
