Shameless Thieves Target Elderly Woman in Romsey!
Police are hunting two crafty crooks who swindled a 79-year-old woman in Romsey in a cruel distraction scam.
How the Theft Unfolded
On Monday, February 22, between 12pm and 12:15pm, the pensioner returned home in Oatlands only to find two men loitering on her driveway. They approached her, asking for directions. Moments after they left, the victim discovered her bank card had vanished from her handbag.
To make matters worse, the stolen card was used at a Barclays Bank branch in southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton to withdraw a staggering £2,300.
Wanted: Two Sleazy Suspects
- First man: Around 5ft 10in tall, stocky build, approximately 50 years old, grey or white hair. He wore a light-coloured scarf and a coat.
- Second man: Approximately 5ft 11in tall, slim build, in his 30s, with short, curly dark hair. He wore a dark jacket and jeans.
Both men are white and spoke broken English with an Eastern European accent.
Police Appeal: Spot These Scoundrels?
Detective PC Claire Browne from the local police station said:
“This is a very rare incident to happen in Romsey and we want to prevent it from happening to anyone else. Please be vigilant with your handbags and purses and do not leave them unattended at any point.”
Authorities have released CCTV images and urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.
