Callous Hit-and-Run Driver Caught After Mowing Down Pedestrian in Woking

A man remains in a serious condition this morning after being brutally struck while crossing Victoria Way in Woking late Saturday night. The victim suffered a severe head injury when a Fiat driver slammed into him and then sped off, leaving him battered on the road.

Horrific Hit-and-Run Shocks Night Owls

The shocking crash happened just after 11:40pm on Saturday, 27th November 2016. Witnesses watched in horror as the pedestrian was thrown into the air like a football. One onlooker said, “At first we thought the car hit the railing, but then we turned and saw the man flying through the air and then lying motionless on the road. The driver just drove off and left him there.”

The callous motorist tried to hide the wrecked vehicle in a nearby alley but was later tracked down by police. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, treating the man’s serious head wounds before rushing him to hospital. A large pool of blood was left at the scene.

Police Crack Down, Appeal for Witnesses

Officers from Surrey’s Serious Road Collision department combed the scene early Sunday, conducting skid tests and examining the damaged car, which was towed away on a low loader.

“We appeal to anyone with information to come forward and assist our investigation,” said police from the scene.

A man in his 30s is now in custody, arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene, and failing to provide a sample. He remains held at a local police station.
