Stonesfield disqualified drink driver jailed for 17 weeks by Magistrates

A man from Stonesfield, Oxfordshire, has been sentenced to a prison sentence after he was convicted of a number of driving offences. Graham Crutch, aged 29, of Longore, Stonesfield, pleaded guilty to one count of driving when alcohol level above the limit, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and one count of driving while disqualified in a hearing at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (8/5). At 4.32pm on Wednesday 27 March, police received reports of a man riding a motorcycle having been under the influence of alcohol. The man was located and stopped by officers while riding a motorcycle on Laughton Hill, Stonesfield. The rider was identified as Crutch who was already disqualified driver. He was breath tested and blew an alcohol level of 111ug/100ml of breath – almost three times the legal limit – and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with the offences via postal requisition on 9 April 2019. After pleading guilty to all three offences, Crutch was sentenced to 17 weeks’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving for five years. Investigating officer PC Brian Perry of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, based at Bicester, said: “Thames Valley Police will not tolerate drink driving, which is one of the Fatal Four on our roads. “Crutch pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and given the seriousness of the offences, has been given a custodial sentence where he can reflect on his actions. “If you are aware of anybody who is driving a vehicle while over the limit, you should report this to Thames Valley Police so that we can keep the roads of the Thames Valley safe from drink drivers.”
