‘Gangster Granny’ Jailed for 20 Years in Family Cocaine Empire Bust

A 65-year-old woman, nicknamed the ‘Gangster Granny’, has been slammed with a 20-year jail term for masterminding a massive family-run drugs empire. Deborah Mason, known as the ‘Queen Bee’ in her network, led a ruthless operation trafficking nearly a tonne of cocaine across the UK.

Family Drug Ring Collared After Landmark Met Police Crackdown

Based in Tufnell Park, Mason ran a slick courier network with eight family members and associates. They delivered huge quantities of cocaine to major cities including London, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Leicester.

The Met Police smashed the ring following months of covert surveillance. Detective Constable Jack Kraushaar said:

“This was a sophisticated operation that was extremely profitable for those involved. They selfishly pursued wealth at the cost of community harm, but they were unaware we were coming for them.”

Intelligence pointed to large-scale trafficking via Harwich Port. Officers used surveillance, call data, and intercepted encrypted messages to nail the gang.

How the Network Operated and Who Got Caught

Mason coordinated deliveries and managed a secret courier system. Police swooped in May 2024, arresting 123 suspects, with another taken in November. An 11-week trial ended with all found guilty of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Met Vows to Keep Hitting Organised Crime Hard
