Cop Mown Down in High-Speed Getaway After Drug Deal Bust in Bermondsey
Officer Injured in Shocking Collision
A police officer was knocked down and hurt after a car sped off following a suspected drug deal in South East London on Friday night. Around 8.50pm, officers on patrol spotted two vehicles — a moped and a car — involved in a suspected drugs exchange on Bombay Street, SE16.
Driver Flees, Hits Officers
The police moved in, but the car driver made a desperate escape. The vehicle rammed into two officers as it sped off. One cop suffered a leg injury and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, the other officer escaped with minor injuries.
Man Arrested, Air Pistol Seized
The moped sped away but was later tracked to an address on Camilla Road, SE16. Police arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. During a search, officers found a firearm believed to be an air-powered pistol. The suspect remains in custody as enquiries continue.
Police are still hunting for the driver who fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
